Programs for residents of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.
The TNRD will rebate 50% to a maximum of $250, of the cost of herbicide purchased by landowners who treat noxious weeds with their own spray equipment or utilize the Sprayer Loan-out Program. This rebate may be applied for on a yearly basis for work done the same calendar year.
The TNRD will rebate landowners 100% of the cost of the herbicide treatment of a new invader species on their private land.
The TNRD in partnership with Purity Feed Co. Ltd. are offering the invasive plant sprayer loan-out program to land owners. There is also a seeding unit available that is designed for re-establishing grass in disturbed areas.
This program applies to the Elephant Hill Fire area and is funded for 2019 - 2021 with support from the Canadian Red Cross.
There is funding for seeding and invasive plant treatment on private land within the affected area, as well as on roadways within and adjacent to the fire
The TNIPMC is calling all Invasive Plant Warriors to pull together an army of volunteers to wage war on invasive plants. This challenge encourages community organizations and groups to become local stewards by controlling invasive plants at a high priority invasive plant site.The group that pulls the most invasive plants (by weight) will win a $250 honorarium that will go towards that groups programs and initiatives. The Weed Pull Challenge will run from June 1st to September 15th.
