New Invaders

The TNRD will rebate landowners 100% of the cost of the herbicide treatment of a new invader species on their private land.

The TNRD new invader invasive plant species include the following:

·         Perennial pepper weed

·         Rush skeleton weed

·         Marsh plume thistle

·         Field scabious

·         Yellow star thistle

·         Scotch thistle

·         *Other new invaders may be added by the TNIPMC

See the conditions below to find out how to qualify for the rebate:

·         The herbicide treatment must be done by a licensed applicator

·         The treatment area must be within a TNRD electoral area (outside of municipal boundaries)

·         The treatment area must be measured in hectares.

·         Rebates are issued based on funding availability and the order the applications are received

·         Completed application forms must be submitted along with accompanying documents no later than October 1 of the current calendar year

The following items must be included in the application package:

1.       Copy of applicators’ invoice

2.       Map showing treatment area (completed by certified applicator)

3.       Herbicide treatment day sheet (completed by certified applicator)

*The TNRD reserves the right to enter said lands and inspect the work to verify its accuracy and completeness. The TNRD reserves the right to release the weed treatment information to the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations, and Rural Development - Invasive and Alien Plant Program (IAPP) database. No personal information will be released. The TNRD shall not be involved in laying out treatment areas, selecting the pesticide applicator, pesticide to be used, applying the pesticide, or other matters of an operational nature. The landowner is solely responsible for all work done by the applicator
